    Berkshire Food Co-op (“BFC”) Grocery Team Members are the public face of the Co-op, providing friendly customer service while aiding the Grocery department. They answer customer questions while maintaining department backstock, displays, and have a working knowledge of Grocery products. They are committed to excellence in retail and service standards, ensuring smooth, safe and efficient operations, and curating an exceptional customer experience. They work to achieve the collective goals of the organization and support the Ends, Vision, Culture and Values of the Co-op.

    The Co-op is looking for a team-player who is passionate about people and customer service. The individual would be supporting the closing shifts.

    Responsibilities & Duties (other duties may be assigned):

    · Practices a total store approach to customer service, responds promptly to customer service needs in all departments

    · Aids in taking and processing buying club orders; answers questions in relation to buying club

    · Stock displays fully without overcrowding; face items on shelves

    · Maintains knowledge of products and weekly ad items throughout the grocery department

    · Label item accurately with price tags or signs. Report price discrepancies to the receiving team

    Berkshire Food Co-op is looking for a Line Cook with open availability, who shares motivation and a passion for serving natural, organic foods to our local community and owners in a positive, fast-paced, work-friendly environment. They will prepare and cook for a hot bar, soup station and Grab-and-Go meals, occasionally assisting with our salad bar, wraps, sandwiches and the Café. We are seeking an individual who has experience in the food service industry, whose values align with the Co-op’s Mission & Values, and has a strong sense of community.

    Responsibilities & Duties (other duties may be assigned):

    · Cook and help prep fresh food menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff in a fast-paced environment

    · Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh

    · Follow and properly execute recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients

    · Maintain a clean and safe work area via supervisor instruction and applicable health, safety and food handling regulations, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes

    · Handle and store ingredients and food

    · Embrace teamwork within the Co-op, creating a positive, vibrant work environment

    · At least 3 years of cooking experience in a fast paced environment

    Berkshire Food Co-op (“BFC”) Wellness Buyers are valuable assets to the Wellness Team. They order and manage products for the wellness department, work and communicate with vendors, and make purchases based on the demand from the Co-op’s owners while complying with the BFC Food Policy. Buyers are responsible for overseeing their department and supply needs, and determining what products will improve the department’s sales numbers. They are committed to excellence in retail and service standards, ensuring smooth, safe and efficient operations, and curating exceptional customer experience. They work to achieve the collective goals of the organization and support the Ends, Vision, Culture and Values of the Co-op. 

    Job Responsibilities 

    Specific responsibilities to the Wellness Buyer position include but are not limited to: 

    Customer Service 

    · Work effectively with customers, vendors and team members in a high volume setting and provide an outstanding ability to listen and communicate efficiently 

    · Practices a total store approach to customer service, responds promptly to customer service questions and needs; appropriately utilizes communication methods (walkie, phone, etc.) when answer is unknown or to communicate with other Team Members 

    · Is always respectful, greets and acknowledges customers with a welcoming attitude

    · Offer samples and suggestions for purchase and nutrition information to customers

    · Is educated about BFC Wellness products, the BFC Food Policy, and is familiar with the store layout; providing customers with direction of where to locate specific items, utilizes communication methods (walkie, phone, etc.) when the answer is unknown 

    · Offers BFC Wellness product suggestions to customer needs and explains the benefits and purposes of the product; educate customers in product selection and information

    · Actively listens to customer complaints, seeking to understand problem/concern/complaint; brings issues to supervisors, management and Persons in Charge as needed 

    · Receives and answers telephone calls, directs the call to the appropriate contact 

    Product Purchasing, Selection, and Production 

    · Purchases, receives and stocks wellness products; assists with other Wellness team members with receiving and stocking products 

    · Communicate regularly with all department Team Members regarding product deliveries

    · Manage relationships with vendor accounts 

    · Ensure orders are placed within established time frames 

    · Ensure credits are requested, and follow up to insure compliance 

    · Review invoices for accuracy with the assistance of the Receiving Coordinator and Center Store Leadership 

    · Seeks approval from the Center Store Manager and/or Center Store Assistant Manager before purchasing product that has not been stocked at the Co-op previously 

    · Researches and ensures products abide by the BFC Food Policy 

    · Complies with Co-op standards of operation and production procedures, as well as those of all applicable regulatory agencies, and ensures on a daily basis that all products are prepared and presented in accordance with Co-op standards 

    Merchandising 

    · Plan and maintain attractive, fully stocked and rotated (and faced, where applicable) sections

    · Ensure that shelves and displays are regularly replenished and rotated according to current pars and inventory; follows the first-in-first-out (FIFO) rotation procedure and departmental & store standards of display production and maintenance 

    · Help set up and maintain seasonal displays 

    · Make sure certain products are correctly signed with display labels, tags, allergenics, & special diets labeling; ensure accurate, up-to-date prices are reflected on all tags and signage

    · Ensure department display areas are maintained in a clean, orderly condition meeting BFC standards 

    · Stocks displays fully without overcrowding; faces items on shelves maintaining integrity of all sets 

    · Check for out-of-dates and record shrink; review shrink log and direct adjustment of orders accordingly 

    Department Maintenance 

    · Keep displays, department areas, and workstations are clean and orderly condition; reminds staff of department maintenance procedures and standards 

    · Advise PICs of equipment repair or replacement needs; if broken equipment will affect business operations, communicate this to the store so they can effectively inform customers

    · Follows the established cleaning procedures are followed; participate in the cleaning schedule during downtime 

    · Follows safety procedure in regards to spills, broken glass and broken equipment

    · Follows department checklist depending on assigned shift 

    · Participate in inventory counts 

    Financial Performance 

    · Reviews margins, sales numbers, cost of profitability, etc. with Center Store Manager and Center Store Leadership team to understand market trends and analysis reports 

    · Maintain records, including accurate shrink and purchase logs 

    Additional Requirements and Conditions 

    · Acts as a mentor for new wellness hires 

    · Attend all assigned trainings to gain a further in-depth knowledge of specific aspects that contribute to your role 

    · Perform duties in a safe manner; follow safety procedures and promote a safe work environment; help identify where the safety in daily operations and/or work environment can improve 

    · Consistently stays busy during slower periods of time and is proactive in finding work to do
